Why a Destination Wedding?
Once we began planning the wedding, we began to realize that a lot of our friends and family would be traveling from out of town to a Chicago wedding. Many people say that "The Big Day" flashes by so quickly, and it's difficult to spend quality time with all of the important people in our lives in a few hours. It only seemed natural to pick a location where we could have a few days (not a few hours) with our family and friends - and why not in a tropical paradise?
We are so excited to not only share this exciting day with our family and friends but to also go on an amazing vacation with some of the people we love so much!
Why Mexico?
Nick and Nancy each have always dreamed of having their wedding on a beach. Nick proposed to Nancy on the white, sandy beaches of Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Nancy fell in love with the Yucatan peninsula - The Riviera Maya location - on her first visit. She went on a day excursion where she snorkled in caverns (locally called cenotes). She also had lunch with locals in a small village where she learned about Yucatecans' way of life. She has since traveled to this region 5 more times for vacations and anthropological fieldwork. She continued to study and enjoy the climate, the cuisine, the people and the history of the region throughout grad school. It only seemed natural to choose this beautiful location to share her special day with Nick. |
