Jamie and Logan’s story Let me just start by saying that it’s a good thing these two met at an Astros/Mariners game instead of a Cowboys/Seahawks game. Although watching sports is a hobby both enjoy, the rivalry between their favorite NFL teams might not have been the most conducive situation for starting a romance. More like a hate at first “How Bout them Cowboys!” Luckily, that accidental meeting in April of 2016 led us all here today.
The fact that these two found one another began with Jamie’s decision to leave her hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana, in order to become a travel nurse in May of 2015. She first worked in Oregon and then later in Washington. She realized soon after that the PNW was a place she could call home (which is how most of us feel after a visit).
Logan has lived his entire life in the Seattle area where he works as an Ordinary Seaman on the Washington State Ferries in Puget Sound, which are the largest fleet of the ferries in the US. He is one of the nicest and most laid back people any of us have ever met. If you really know Jamie, you understand that this is why it works. These two together are like salted caramel. Different in many ways, but truly compliment one another. Not to say jamie isn’t nice, it’s just not the overwhelming characteristic that pops out like with Logan. She is thoughtful and sensitive and cares a lot about a lot of things. She can be intense and opinionated and Logan takes it all in stride and values those opinions. He always sees the good in her and everyone else. There is no one in the Thomas family who doesn’t give a 100% stamp of approval on this union.
The two met in the beer garden at the Mariners game on April 26, 2016, and despite a move by Jamie to Eugene in July, by November of the same year Logan bought a condo and she moved in shortly after. Then, at the end of June 2017, Jamie became a regular WA nurse and stopped being a traveler. The two then built a beautiful home together in Lake Stevens in 2018 where they currently reside. Logan proposed on a trip to Las Vegas on February 23, 2020. It was then that the excitement for this wedding began in earnest for everyone.
We are so happy to welcome everyone to our hometown and the sight of our father’s new Barndominium which is currently under construction. He has generously offered up the place as the venue for the wedding and reception. For all the Washingtonians—dress lightly because you’ve never felt heat and humidity like July in Louisiana!
