How We Met ::: We first laid eyes on each other Saturday July 6, 2002. He was scoping me out from the moment i walked through the door. My aunt's birthday barbeque was the venue that gave us the opportunity to fall in love. I must say things happened very quickly. The next day we took a stroll along the beach and talked literally until the sun came up. I think this is when we found out how much we had in common. I lived in DeKalb at the time and returned back home that Monday. Les and I talked on the phone everyday for hours. Two weeks later was the official first date. The date where Les says he knew that I would one day be his wife. We started off at a restaurant at North Pier, walked to Navy Pier and end up at Bar Louie. (This later became our favorite place to go for drinks and wings.) The night ended with us outside my car on the corner of Chestnut and Franklin, listening to Musiq CD. We danced and kissed on that corner for about 40 minutes. This date also ended when the sun was rising. By November I was at his family’s house for Thanksgiving. And the rest is history. We both feel like that something so beautiful came out of such an unexpected situation. We were so blessed to have found each other that day, because since that day, our life has become one.
The Proposal:::: Les and I both have designated weekends to plan out dates. Well this was my date night and I was getting everything ready. I got us tickets to the Goodman Theatre to se a play and made dinner reservations at the Melting Pot. I didn't tell Les the details of the date till earlier that day. Everything was going on as planned. We went to the theater and then to dinner. We talked, laughed and joked all night. After starting to eat and 2 drinks into dinner I decided to go to the restroom. When I returned, Les had a strange look on his face. I joked around because I thought he might have done something to my food. It wasn't until I reached for my drink, did I notice the ring in a box sitting next to my plate. I think my heart actually stop beating and I took the deepest breath ever. I cried like a baby screaming “OH MY GOD". Les at some point got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I think that I might have given him the wrong hand to put the ring on. LOL. Eventually I got it right and got the ring and the Man! We will be sharing our love and comment to each other on the sandy beach of Rivera Maya, Mexico on November 14, 2008 at 4p.m. This will be the beginning of a life time of happiness.
I want to thank all of our family and friends who continue to support us and our relationship. I am grateful to have so many guests decide to join us on our special day. We do understand that everyone is not able to make the trip, but we will cherish all of your blessings and well wishes. Continue to encourage and support us throughout this long journey that we are about to embark on.
