KnK’s journey began over 6 years ago…
Katie was playing MC of a semi-well-known Las Vegas show when Kyle walked into the venue with a mutual friend. Kyle says it wasn’t Love at First Sight, but it was definitely SOMETHING! Enough for Kyle to leave strategic Myspace (a site once known to American’s before Facebook) messages about Katie on other mutual friends pages making Katie take notice and ask Kyle to become a “friend.” Kyle says it was all part of his master plan. He, after all, has been quoted to say that he could write a book on “game” that would put Hitch to shame.
6 months of this could be considered stalker status, as Kyle knowingly tried to strategize Katie into his life. But was well ignored by Katie. She just wrote this what appeared to be handsome Myspace photo’ed gentleman to be just another stereotypical “Club Kid.” And Katie never looked twice at this personally made-up stereotype.
Finally it was not fate, but Kyle’s masterful game planning and skills, which eventually brought them together. And in beautiful Tahoe no less. Katie had agreed to embark on another adventure with a mutual friend to attend a snowboarding trip with a group of Las Vegas friends. It wasn’t until their arrival that Katie realized this said group was really a female party of one and 5 dudes… with NO HOT WATER… in a condo in Incline Village owned by Kyle’s family. Lucky for everyone Katie is a true girly tomboy and was more the able to hold her own.
It was after a quick detour on the way to the airport that sealed the deal. Kyle took the entire group for a swing by of his hometown of Rocklin, CA where Katie met his parents and came home to Vegas with the revelation to her then roommate “I think I’m in love with this kid!”
But Katie tried to fight it, “we’re just friends.” …just friends that hung out almost EVERYDAY since returning from their weekend get-away. It wasn’t until one night when Kyle arrived to pick Katie up to see a band at a local bar with Katie’s FAVORITE Ice Cream Snickers in hand, that Katie realized “Is this a DATE?” To which Kyle replied, “Well yeah, is that ok with you?” Katie was smitten.
The last straw to break the camels back was on April 13, 2006. An email (yes an email) was sent to Katie “will you be my girlfriend? Check yes or no!” It was all yeses from there.
From many adventures around the US, an official move from Vegas to Northern California, some ups and downs, but all and all years of being inseparable, it was only fitting that on the evening of December 15th, 2010 Kyle bent down on one knee at the outdoor Ice Skating Rink in downtown Sacramento and proposed to Katie (with an empty ring box). Of course the answer was all yeses again. And of course the ring (once found and presented) was PERFECT!
