Paul and I met through his sister, Lauren. I worked with Lauren at Kids First Pediatrics. She showed me a picture of Paul on her phone and asked me what I thought of him. Before knowing it was her brother, I told her I thought he was good looking and looked like a "real man". I was somewhat embarrassed and blushed instantly when she laughed and told me "he's my brother". She asked me if I was ready to go on a date as I had been fairly newly single. I told her that while I wasn't ready for anything serious that I would be willing to go. She said that her brother just came out of a long relationship not all that long ago and wasn't looking for anything serious either. Paul says that Lauren approached him about the idea via a text message, stating "I found the perfect girl for you". After some questions about me, he agreed to go. Lauren gave Paul my number and said he would call. Well a few days went by and I began to wonder if he was actually gonna call, and he did! I missed his first phone call to me and ended up leaving a very nervous reply via voice mail explaining why I missed his call as if that mattered. The game of phone tag ensued as he called me back and I finally answered! I remember pacing the house nervously as our conversation and getting to know one another began. After three hours of talking on the phone, neither of us being the phone talking type - we discussed everything and anything you can imagine. We ended the phone call with planning our official first date. He said "after a great conversation like this I can't wait until next weekend to meet you, meet me tomorrow for dinner". I agreed instantly as I already had butterflies over this great guy over the phone - I had to meet him! We agreed to meet at the Brickhouse Brewery in Patchogue for dinner. I showed up first and sat at the bar. He called me as he walked up and told me that he was already in the restaurant watching me and had me looking all over for him - I should have known then that I was only seeing the start of all the jokes/teasing he had in store. I remember getting those same butterflies from the night before when I saw him in person for the first time. He was as gorgeous as he was charming and he took my breath away. I bought him a drink which he admits took him back a bit. We shared a drink or two then had great conversation over dinner. We were so into our time together that we lost all track of time and had been the last ones to leave, closing the restaurant. We hugged goodbye and promised to speak tomorrow and see each other soon. I had never felt that way about anyone before and instantly knew he was the one. We grew so close so quick and knew we were meant to be, to find each other after all we'd been through. We have been inseparable ever since. |
