Dan and I met in 2001 when I was just 16 years old and he was 18. The night we first met we shared so many laughs and just had an amazing time being in each other company. However, I didn't see him again until years later in 2006 when fate brought us back together. That same year I saw Dan again, Brooklyn was 2 years old and although I was concentrating on being a mother and not looking for a serious relationship we tried dating for a few months. I knew we were great together, but again the timing was not perfect and we both had a lot of growing up to do. The next two years we learned more about ourselves and who we wanted to be as individuals and took paths that once again led us back to one another in 2007. This was the perfect time for us to begin our journey as a family. We have been dating for four years now and it has been truly wonderful. Not only is Dan the perfect man for me, he is a great father to our daughter Brooklyn, and the three of us make up an amazing family of our own. Two years ago we moved into a beautiful home, now have two dogs, and Dan has built a great business of his own. We are both so excited to continue on this magnificent journey together as a family as we say our I do's and start a new chapter in our lives.

A complete and perfect surprise! The night of our engagement, Dan took me to Sanfords Restaurant downtown Milwaukee for dinner. It was Valentine's Day and honestly I had no idea why he had selected such an amazing place on a Monday evening for Valentine's Day, and even asked my mom to watch Brooklyn for the evening. Never the less, I had no idea what his plans were. We both got dressed up, Dan in a suit, and headed for downtown. Now looking back, when we reached the restaurant and sat down I noticed Dan seemed a little nervous, but again I didn't think anything of it. We had a fantastic four course meal and as I was finishing my main entree, the waitress immediately brought me what I thought was our desert, but as she set it in front of me, it was not a desert but a small box! As I opened the small box I became flushed and warm and tears started to well up in my eyes. Dan looked to me and asked me to marry him, and of course I said, yes and we kissed. The waitress poured champagne and we made a toast to the new journey we were going to begin together. |
